Buying a home

While the home buying process can be intimidating, as long you are prepared and know what to expect, as your realtor of choice I will help you find a home that you love

“When buying a home, buyers should always first get pre-approved. Once pre-approved, call an agent local to where you want to move. Local knowledge is important, but not as important as an agent that you can trust with the skills and knowledge in writing offers and representing buyers,”

Chances are you will look at a lot of homes during your search. Location is important, so take notes on things like nearby commercial properties, traffic, proximity to parks and trails, appearance of neighbor’s properties, road maintenance, distance to schools, sidewalk installation and other items important to your specific lifestyle so you can compare the homes you have visited side by side. Visit at different times of the day and night to observe traffic patterns, noises from barking dogs and lawn mowers and other habits from your would-be neighbors.

Know up front that buying a home isn’t cheap, you may have to pay for any mortgage costs to lender, pre-paid taxes, insurance, escrow set-ups, a home inspection, appraisal fee, mortgage title insurance, title closing fee and transaction/compliance fee to real estate.

“Buyers usually don't anticipate the home inspection costs, association fees or non-homestead taxes. This is why an experienced realtor will help,”.

Home inspections can also turn up unanticipated problems that may need to be addressed, added Iodice.
